Airsoft replicas and category 4
The purchase and the weapon card are related but separate procedures. AirsoftDB must document and declare the sale; the buyer applies for the card through their local council.
We will request the necessary identity details and assign the serial number of the sold unit. Municipal procedures and additional documents can vary, so buyers should check with their local council in advance.
1. What AirsoftDB does
Before selling replicas, AirsoftDB must notify the corresponding Guardia Civil Weapons and Explosives Office of the activity.
For each sale we will identify the buyer and replica, include the necessary details on the invoice —including the unit serial number— and make the required notifications to the buyer's local council and the Weapons Office.
- Verification of the buyer's identity.
- Brand, model, calibre, category and serial number in the sales documentation.
- Documents needed for the buyer's weapon-card application.
- Internal record and notification of the sale to the competent authorities.
2. What the buyer does
The holder must check and apply for the weapon card through the local council where they reside. It is not a firearms licence, but the card must accompany the replica whenever it is carried or used outside the home.
- Provide identification and prove ownership with the invoice.
- Supply the official cards or forms and any documents requested by the local council.
- Wait for the card to be granted before carrying or using the replica outside the home.
- Transport it unloaded, in its case or cover, and only for a justified journey.
3. Cards A and B
The exact category depends on the operating system. Automatic weapons follow the category 4.1 regime and spring-powered weapons the category 4.2 regime; other systems follow the relevant classification in the Weapons Regulation.
Card A can document category 4.1 weapons and is generally valid for five years. Card B documents category 4.2 weapons and is generally permanent. Municipal authorities may impose additional limits or requirements.
4. The procedure depends on the local council
The Weapons Regulation assigns the decision to the Mayor. Each council may handle the procedure through its registry, Local Police or another unit, charge a fee and request additional documents. AirsoftDB will provide the sales documentation but cannot grant or guarantee the card.
